Mason’s Master of Health Administration (MHA) program was honored with the Sustainability in Healthcare Management Education award from the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME), sponsored by Canon Solutions America. The award recognizes Mason’s MHA program for excellence in sustainable integration of knowledge and skill development in cultural competency, community involvement, environmental stewardship, and accessibility in health systems management. The award comes with national recognition and a cash award of $5,000 to support new MHA program initiatives in sustainability.

“We are proud of our MHA program for providing students with forward-thinking, interprofessional hands-on learning that takes place on campus and in the community to help our students understand how to have an impact on the health and well-being of others and ensure they are well-prepared to be successful health care leaders,” said PJ Maddox, Department of Health Administration and Policy chair. “Recognition from CAHME, our accrediting organization, is a testament to the quality of the program and the gold standard of academic excellence.”

“Our program allows students to complete a CAHME-accredited MHA degree while working full time and often while balancing family life. We align with CAHME’s mission to serve the public interest by providing individuals who are unable to enroll in graduate school full-time with a path forward. Students are accommodated with a year-round curriculum, rolling admissions, evening classes, and generous financial aid packages. A significant number of our students are first-generation advanced degree graduates,” said Brenda Sheingold, associate professor and MHA program director.

The program will be honored on March 19, 2023, as part of the 8th Annual CAHME Awards at the American College of Healthcare Executives Congress.

CAHME serves the public by promoting, evaluating, and improving the quality of graduate health care management education in the United States and Canada. CAHME is an interdisciplinary group of educational, professional, clinical, and other health sector organizations devoted to quality improvement of education for healthcare management and administration professionals. Additionally, CAHME accreditation establishes the standard of measurement of graduate health care management education for the world community.
