A faculty member in the College of Public Health who has advanced three Ph.D. students to candidacy as chair of each student’s dissertation committee (i.e., the professor has mentored each of three students in the dissertation as evidence by each student having passed one of the following courses: GCH-998, HAP-998, HI-998, or NURS-998, or other equivalent course as part of a Ph.D. program at the College of Public Health) shall be entitled to one course buyout of a three-credit course. A faculty member serving as chair of a dissertation committee may bank such service from semester to semester until that faculty member shall have advanced three Ph.D. students to candidacy as described above. A faculty member serving as a chair of a dissertation committee may receive a course buyout under this policy more than once.
A faculty member in the College of Public Health who has chaired six DNP students in their final year of the program (during courses N921/980 and N922/N981) shall be entitled to one course buyout of a three-credit course. A faculty member serving as chair of a DNP Project may bank such service from semester to semester until that faculty member shall have six DNP students. A faculty member serving as a chair of a DNP Project may receive a course buyout under this policy more than once.
