Biography
Dr. Oh is a tenured associate professor and the doctoral program director in the School of Nursing. She specializes in teaching nursing research methods and statistics courses. Dr. Oh was Inducted into the American Association of College of Nursing (AACN) Diversity Leadership Institute as a Fellow in 2022. She teaches primarily in the PhD program in the School of Nursing where she mentors students who conducting doctoral dissertations. She has a strong research background and extensive experience in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research. Her current studies examine racial/ethnic disparities in cancer screening practices and factors influencing cancer screening participation for ethnic minorities. Dr. Oh is particularly interested in the Korean American population. She conducted a study to examine Korean Americans' cancer-related health information sources and cancer screening knowledge and behaviors concerning the most prevalent types of cancers for Korean-Americans. In addition, in collaboration with the Department of Communication, Dr. Oh conducted an interventional study to encourage smoking cessation among first-generation Chinese and Korean Immigrant men. Currently, Dr. Oh is developing a research program to empower medically underserved populations to improve diabetes prevention and management through a novel, cost-effective, linguistically and culturally appropriate, and sustainable nurse-led diabetes program.
