Program Overview

Generalist concentration

In the 18-credit hour Public Health Graduate Certificate, Generalist concentration, students develop specific competencies in the areas of social and behavioral health, epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, and health systems.

The classes required to complete this concentration are offered both online and in-person.

Leadership and Management concentration

The 18-credit hour Public Health Graduate Certificate, Leadership and Management concentration prepares students to apply the principles of public health leadership, stewardship and policy implementation to manage state and local health departments and various non-profit organizational and community health program initiatives.

Students must have at least two years’ work experience in a health-related field in order to apply. Visit Mason’s catalog for information on specific certificate requirements.

The Graduate Certificates in Public Health use the SOPHAS Application Service. SOPHAS is an online application system where prospective graduate students can apply to multiple accredited public health programs.
