Epidemiology Research

Using a range of innovative research techniques and advanced statistical computing, the epidemiology faculty at Mason investigate the distribution and determinants of health-related events and diseases, as well how diseases and other health problems can be controlled or prevented. Specific areas of epidemiologic research include air pollution, environmental epidemiology, exposure-focused epidemiology, global health epidemiology, infectious disease epidemiology, maternal and child health, occupational health, reproductive epidemiology and health, social determinants of health, vector-borne diseases, and violence.  The aim of the research conducted by the epidemiology faculty is to shape how public health-related policy decisions are made and what evidence-based practices should be used to address the most pressing health concerns both domestically and globally.
