COVID-19 MAP Clinic Update

The health of our patients, providers, staff/volunteers, and visitors is our top priority. We are staying up to date on the evolving COVID-19 cases in our communities and remaining vigilant with our preparedness protocol to ensure that the MAP Clinics remain a healthcare resource for our community.

We will continue to provide services through our MAP Clinics, including telehealth visits. We are educating patients on the best and most current course of action advised by the CDC, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), and the local health departments.

Please check here for current MAP Clinics hours and operating status. This includes hours and locations and a list of services provided.

Accurate information is critical for preventing the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.  Here are the preventive steps we are taking to reduce people’s exposure while attending MAP clinics.

What We’re Doing To Prevent Exposure

Our Clinic team meets daily to ensure the MAP Clinics have the most up to date information available from the CDC, VDH, and local health departments. We are monitoring the spread and management of COVID-19 and the impact it might have on our services to the community. This team has made the following recommendations to protect the staff and patients from possible infection and will continue to update as more information becomes available.

Staff

  • Anyone not feeling well or at higher risk of contracting the virus (e.g., age 60 years and above, immune compromised, comorbidity) should stay at home.
  • Temperatures of all staff and patient providers coming onsite will be taken in the entrance of the MAP Clinics before entry as an added precaution. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4º F/ 38 ºC or above will be sent home and advised to self monitor or seek medical care.
  • Everyone should increase the frequency of washing their hands with soap for at least 20 seconds and to keep their hands away from their face.
  • Staff and patient providers are to wear disposable gloves and face masks before and during patient contact, which are to be properly disposed using best biohazard practices.

Patients

  • Prior to entrance to a MAP Clinic all patients are evaluated for COVID-19 symptoms and travel exposures.

  • If a patient requires further evaluation they will be treated and we will follow the most up to date recommendations from the CDC and local health departments on testing.

Facility

  • Staff will clean and disinfect using hospital grade disenfectants in the intake, waiting and examination rooms after each patient.

We will continue to monitor this situation as it evolves and we will continue to update our community with new procedures and processes as they are put into place by the CDC.
